You know that song by Tim Mcgraw that's called 'I miss back when', and it sings about how he misses the old days when a hoe was a hoe, a screw was a screw the wind was all that blew, and crack is what you were doing when you were telling jokes? It's a great song, and i completely agree with everything that song has to say and more.
Last night I was flipping through the channels, and I swear more than half of the shows airing either showed cleavage, violence or both. What is happening to the world? Today, I was at the library. All I wanted to do was go research in a good ol encyclopedia. I went to the front room where I remember them being kept not too long ago.. You know what I found instead? Movies! Not just educational movies, oh no, I found Charlie and the chocolate factory, and a knights tale and others that didn’t have much educational value. You know where I found the encyclopedias? Pushed to a small back room, along with the Guinness world book of records. Since when has the library started placing a bigger emphasis on entertainment than education? What is happening to the world? While logging on to the internet to get to this site I had a pop up add telling me how to get help in case I had an std. Are you serious? I mean, don't get me wrong, that's all fine and dandy that people are out there with help for those types of things, but don’t people realize that there are children in this world who log on to the internet every day? Do we no longer have values in this country? It is all just a free for all, every person for themselves race for popularity and money.
What happened to humanity, education, and service? Wouldn’t the world be a better place if we placed more emphasis on that? Don’t you think everybody would profit a little bit better from that than sex, violence and entertainment? I’m disgusted to where the new American values have transfered too.Perhaps one day, we will wake up from this twisted state of pride and start helping others, which in turn , will benefit themselves far greater than what people are trying for now. Until then, I will continue to dream, and sing of the good ol' days.
